Grandmothers Lemon Cake:
So easy - the kids can help!

Aside from solving mysteries, one of Sunny’s favorite things to do in Sunny’s Adventures is help her grandmother bake up delicious treats in the kitchen.  As you know from the book, one of Sunny’s favorite desserts ever is her grandmother’s delicious lemon cake.

Lemony Lemon Cake from Sunny’s Adventures

What you will need to get started for your lemon cake:

• 1 box of Duncan Hines lemon cake mix
• Eggs
• Oil
• ½ cup Lemon Juice
• ¼ cup of Powdered sugar
• Toothpick or fork

 

Directions

-Prepare the lemon cake mix according to the box directions
-Pour it in the pan
-Put the lemon cake in the oven and let it bake for the specified length of time shown on the box
-After baking is complete, take the lemon cake out of the oven and let it cool for at least 1 hour
-Take a toothpick or a fork and poke holes all through out the lemon cake
-Pour the ½ cup of lemon juice in a small bowl and mix in ¼ cup of powdered sugar (mix together)
-Pour the lemon juice/ powdered sugar mixture over the whole lemon cake, making sure that it seeps through the holes
-Sprinkle a little dry powdered sugar over the top of the lemon cake for your sweetened glaze frosting
